Paul Fleischman's novels, plays, picture books, poetry, and nonfiction are known for their variety, innovation, and multiple viewpoints. He won the Newbery Medal for Joyful Noise: Poems for Two Voices, a Newbery Honor for Graven Images, and was a National Book Award finalist for Breakout.  Seedfolks, his account of a Cleveland community garden's first year, has been used in one-book programs across the country.  In 2012 he was the U.S. nominee for the international Hans Christian Andersen Award.  He lives in California.
