2008 Wisconsin Book Festival Dates: October 15-19, 2008

Mary Gordon
The seventh annual Wisconsin Book Festival, "Changing Places," will take place on October 15 - 19, 2008, in and around Madison. We've already booked some of the most acclaimed authors and presenters on the local, national, and international levels.

Presenters lined up for this year's Festival include novelist Marilynne Robinson, NYT science writer Andrew Revkin, poet Patricia Smith, Ann Beattie, David Maraniss, Mary Gordon, and Caldecott-winning illustrator Kadir Nelson.

The 2008 Wisconsin Book Festival theme is "Changing Places," a phrase rich with numerous interpretations. Festival events will explore this broad range - from the literal to the metaphoric, and even to the playful.

In keeping with the Wisconsin Humanities Council's "Wisconsin: Making It Home" programming initiative, we will also focus on Festival events which evaluate our relationship with the land. Festival participants are encouraged to examine Wisconsin's environmental history, celebrate the state's rich conservation heritage, and discuss present and future relationships between the people and the places that make up our state.
