B. Venkat Mani is associate professor of German, European studies, and global studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His research focuses on migration of peoples, cultures, ideas, and books. He is the author of Cosmopolitical Claims and has produced numerous articles and co-edited volumes on globalization and world literature. For his current research on world literature and libraries, he spent a year at the German National Library in Leipzig through a prestigious fellowship from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. He judges books by their covers and cities by their public libraries.
